The Hub at Henley CIO
Henley-in-Arden's Local Youth and Community Centre
There has been a Youth and Community Centre in Henley since the early 1970’s . Prior to that the landlord of the Golden Cross let youngsters hang out in the back room of the pub! Originally run as part of the secondary school, responsibility was transferred to Warwickshire County Council in the late 70s before the Local Authority funding cuts led to the closure of the centre in 2012.
Not happy with the loss of a valuable town resource, the residents of Henley worked tirelessly to raise funds and recruit volunteers enabling The Henley-in-Arden War Memorial Trust to take over the management of the Hub that same year. The Trust appointed paid youth leaders but the remainder of the organisation and management fell to volunteers.
Since 2016 The Hub has been run by a group of dedicated trustees and volunteers with the guidance of an external management contract. In 2018 the management roles were amalgamated and bought in house.
As set out in The Hub's Mission Statement we continue to strive to benefit the residents of Henley-in-Arden and the neighbourhood in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents.
