On Tuesday 25th November, the Junior Youth Club visited Henley in Arden Fire Station. Peter and Steve were our hosts giving the youngsters an interesting and thought provoking event. They heard about the new arrangements where Henley moved from the threat of closure to becoming a 7.00am to 07.00pm permanently manned station with the nights covered by part time staff on callout.
They were instructed on fire safety and enthralled by looking through the range of impressive equipment stashed ingeniously within the Pump as the fire engine is called. They learned that the engine is prepared to deal with every kind of emergency, Saving lives from fire, water and car accidents. Steve demonstrated the use of one piece of apparatus when he was called upon to rescue a young baby who had been accidentally locked in the house by a distraught mum.
The young people were left in no doubt of the bravery of our fire fighters and their level of dedication given to keeping everyone safe. As we all left hoping we would never need their assistance. Thanks to Peter and Steve for an impressive visit.
